SONIC FREEDOM SAGA
Q: What is it?
A: It's a fan comic based on the character Sonic the Hedgehog.
Q: What is it about?
A: It's basically "what if the known continuities of Sonic were merged or balanced together to make one continuity & one epic storyline?"
Q: Where does it take place?
A: Mobius, or Earth as it is also called by other civilians.
Q: What are the storylines about?
A: Adaptations that stay true to the storylines of the Genesis/Mega Drive games. We plan on doing CD & Chaotix, along with the Adventure series later.
Q: Why does Sonic look different?
A: This was back when he was in his classic form, not his modern form (aka post-Adventure).
Q: What characters will be in the comic?
A: Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, Amy Rose, Metal Sonic, & Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik. Pretty much the game characters.
Q: Any more characters to expect?
A: Pretty much a few characters from SatAM/Archie & Fleetway StC. Mainly Sally Acorn, Rotor, Bunnie Rabbot, Johnny Lightfoot, Uncle Chuck, & (maybe) Turbo.
Q: Will we get to see Super Sonic?
A: Yes. Along with Psycho Super Sonic & Hyper Sonic.
Q: Will Amy Rose be how she is currently portrayed in modern Sonic games?
A: No. She will most likely be an innocent & sweet girl with a crush on the hero. Unlike the obsessed stalking fangirl who wouldn't take "no" for an answer.
Q: How long will the comic be?
A: Each issue will probably be about 40 pages long.
Q: Will characters from Sonic X be in the comic?
A: No.
Q: Will you do the adaptation to "Sonic the Movie" or "Sonic OVA"?
A: Yes. Along with hopefully the SatAM cartoon adaptation.
Q: Why does Robotnik in your concept art look different from Eggman in Adventure & classic Robotnik?
A: Read the descriptions in the pictures for more info.
Q: Will Johnny Lightfoot die like he did in StC?
A: No. He will be alive & well throughout the entire series.
Q: Is the comic canon to the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise?
A: The comic is NOT canon to Sonic, hence the reason why it's called a fan comic. We just wanted to retell the stories of the games for all fans to enjoy.
Q: What is your target audience?
A: Target audience is practically all fans if possible.
Q: What ages would you recommend for the comic?
A: Well we wanted as many as possible. However I would say maybe 10 & up. Our comic is mostly PG. We might go a little PG-13 but we're still thinking on it.
Q: Will you add new characters to your comic?
A: We most likely will not add any new characters to our comic. The problem with the other Sonic continuities is that even though they try to be "balanced", they are cursed with adding new characters that make it a different continuity, thus creating more conflict with the Sonic community. We wanted to try & create a scenario where the other continuities are balanced as if they are one instead of a whole new one.
Q: What will happen once your team runs out of adaptations to do?
A: We are still planning on what will happen next in the storylines.
Q: Are Earth & Mobius different places?
A: They are one & the same. This is pretty much one of the most debated topics among the Sonic community. In the old days, Sonic pretty much was on Mobius. Nowadays he's on Earth. Many modern Sonic fans support Sega of Japan's theory (mostly from Yuji Naka) that Sonic is on "Earth" & nowhere else. However there are still fans who believe Sonic is on Mobius. In order to maintain a balance or a compromise, we decided to state that Mobius & Earth are one & the same. One example of this is the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. The console has two names but it is the exact same thing. Another example is the country Germany. Many people living in other countries (non-German speaking) call it Germany but a fun fact is that the people who live or originated in Germany call it "Deutschland" (they don't actually call it "Germany"). But it is still the same country. Besides it wouldn't be so hard if Sega made it official that Earth is also called Mobius. Wouldn't hurt, right?
Q: Will the Power Rings in Sonic be in the comic?
A: Yes. Sonic isn't Sonic without the Rings.
Q: What will the environments be like?
A: The environments will pay tribute to the classic Sonic the Hedgehog titles, with the checkerboard tiles & other imaginative stuff. Some realistic environments will be in there but it'll mostly be the classic imaginative environments.
Q: Will Shadow & other modern characters be in the comic?
A: Maybe for the later adaptations.
Q: When will we get to see the first issue?
A: I was hoping that my team could start working on the first issue around late-November & hopefully release the first issue in early 2010.
Q: Will your art be similar to others?
A: For me in general, no. I'm inspired by Spaz from Archie Comics (his early Archie Sonic art anyway) while Rave (that's what he prefers to be called) is inspired by Naoto Oshima.
